Through years of serving the local communities with humanitarian works and the development of businesses in Aceh, the field team has created some social impact in villages such as Aluekuyun, and the town of Banda-Aceh.
Social Impact In Aluekuyun
Medical Aid in Aluekuyun Village in subdistrict Woyla Timur
Many villagers were infected with malaria for many years due to poor hygiene and lack of health awareness until a medical team was sent to the village. The fruit of team’s labour was indicated by the malaria reduction percentage over the period March to October 2006. Due to lack of funding, the project has been shelved.
Community Groups Formed Through medical/health services and the development of businesses, the team is able to foster closer relationship with the locals. Consequently community cell groups were formed to further enhance their quality of life. Through these community cell groups good values, especially family values, and character development are imparted to the locals. (i) Mother’s Group under Dr. Holland Aim : to inculcate health awareness and family values to the mothers who in turn have great impact on the children in Achenese culture. (ii) Maximized Manhood Community Group Aim : to inculcate family values to men / fathers (iii) Children Community Group Aim : to educate children in reading and writing and inculcate good virtues for character building (iiii) Ladies Community Group Aim : to teach values to the single ladies through conducting English classes and Bahasa Indonesia classes. |
